Let’s be clear — we love the whole herd.

But over the years, a few alpacas have found their way into a slightly different role at Elderwood Farms. They may have been among our first, grown up alongside us, become familiar faces to visitors, appeared in countless photos, or simply developed personalities that made them impossible to forget.

Our Farm Forevers aren’t necessarily our most decorated show animals or the foundation of our breeding program. In fact, some have long since retired from breeding altogether. They’re here because somewhere along the way, they became part of the personality, history, and heart of Elderwood Farms.

Clio The Muse

The one who started it all.

Before there was an Elderwood herd, there was Clio. She was the very first alpaca purchased for what would eventually become Elderwood Farms, making her the beginning of a story that has grown far beyond anything we could have imagined at the time. More than just a foundation female, Clio represents the moment this entire journey began.

Our Boy Jimmy

The first cria born at Elderwood Farms.

Jimmy was never supposed to stay — in fact, we weren’t even planning to give him a name. But when the very first cria ever born at Elderwood Farms arrived, “Jimmy” quickly stuck, and so did he. More than a decade later, he remains a living piece of our beginning, a longtime visitor favorite, and one half of one of the farm’s best friendships.

Elderwood’s Grand Susannah

The blue-eyed girl nobody forgets.

As the second cria ever born at Elderwood Farms, Susannah was special to us from the beginning. Her striking blue eyes have made her unforgettable to visitors and even our shearing crew, who ask about her year after year. More than a decade later, she remains one of those unmistakable Elderwood faces.

OLWA Quasar’s JaQuay

Part alpaca. Part brand ambassador. Entirely JaQuay.

JaQuay somehow became one of the faces of Elderwood Farms. She’s welcomed visitors, attended events, appeared on our banners and business cards, posed for more photos than we could count, and even starred in a few Elderwood stories along the way. Now retired from breeding, she remains very much on duty as one of our favorite four-legged ambassadors.

ELWD's Go Charlie Go

Our little survivor who grew into an ambassador.

Born more than a month early and weighing less than seven pounds, Charles entered the world with the odds stacked against him. His rocky beginning quickly became one of Elderwood’s most-followed stories, but the tiny premature cria everyone rooted for grew into a beloved farm ambassador — and Jimmy’s best friend. Today, Charles is proof that sometimes the smallest beginnings create some of the biggest personalities.
